Join printmaker and textile designer Lizzie Mabley for this busy but informal workshop designing printing and constructing your own unique drum lampshade!

Starting with a discussion of the practical process and demonstration, looking at examples of design and colour, you will learn how to carve your own lino block.  You will then move onto mixing your chosen shade from the eco friendly base colours, be shown how to apply the ink to the block and the best techniques for getting a beautiful crisp print. We will be working on a design of approximately 10 x 10 cm so if you have any ideas, please bring them along and Lizzie will help you simplify your design if necessary. We’ll use your lino block to print a small length of fabric which you will use to construct a 30cm drum lampshade. By the end of the day, you will go home with a unique and very personal lampshade.

This class is suitable for all abilities, all materials are included in the cost, but you will need to bring along an old apron as the inks used can stain clothing.
